Bows
So, I mainly use two types of builds on my ranger: Barrage and Turret-types (Glass Arrows, Prepared Shot, Burning Arrow, etc.).
For Barrage builds, I tend to use longbows. With an IAS and without FW to reduce the huge arc of a flatbow (easy to dodge), I think longbows work best.
For Turret-types, where DPS or interrupting are important, I use a recurve bow. It has the smallest arc (hard to dodge) and smallest flight time (lowest "lag" between firing and hitting). I've considered shortbows for the faster refire rate, but I'm not sure about having to get that close.
In conclusion, Barrage = longbow, Turret = recurve. Agreed? Disagreed? Thoughts.
Thanks!
PS: I'm sure this has been talked over before, but I didn't see any threads about it.
EDIT: I play PvE, so let's keep to that for now.

I agree that recurves are great for rupting : hornbows are better if your looking for higher damage of course.
I also agree that Longbows are great for barrage builds since they keep you a safe distance away without the huge arc of a flatbow but again hornbows would put out more damage.
Tbh I think you should keep a recurve/longbow/hornbow and switch off according to how the battle is going.

Read the Wind doesn't halves the flight time of the arrow but sets it to the half amount of the flight time of a recurve bow arrow, so if you use RtW in a turret build use a flatbow, it will be the best bow on all accounts.

This topic is covered quite well already on guru and wiki. Nothing new in your post.

I checked wiki and they just went over the different types of bows, not which they use for particular builds and why. The Ranger guide at the beginning just talked about some bows to get for beginners.
As far as hornbows go, I know they have the 10% AP, but they fire slower so I was never sure about using them.
For Read the Wind, I never knew it changed the arc on bows to the same, no matter which bow it was. I will definitely use flatbow when using read the winds, now.
One last question. On topic, but a little different. I am messing around with a A/R build with Disrupting Accuracy as the prep and high crit chance (Way of the Master, Critical Eye, etc.) so that there's a chance I crit on normal attacks. So, for this, would it be better to use a recurve so that it has the highest accuracy and shortest bow-to-target time, or a shortbow for the fastest refire rate?

The more arrows you fire the higher the chance you interrupt something; it's irrelevant how fast your arrows fly from you to your foe, just how often it is hit.
Regarding your initial question: I only use recurve and flatbows, and switch between them during a fight depending on the situation; recurve bow is a must if you carry an interrupt, and flatbow is the best bow damage-wise (on par with the short bow).
The best bow for Barrage depends on what boni you have on attack speed and skill recharge:
25% IAS and no faster skill recharge: Flat or shortbow, depends if the 0.29 seconds longer flight time of a flatbow is enough reason for you to buy a shortbow.
33% IAS and no faster skill recharge: Long or recurve bow, flat and short bow will fire too fast and you'll shoot a normal arrow between to Barrage shots.
33% IAS and and faster skill racharge: Flat or shortbow again.

unless ofc your reflex interrupting... then the arrow speed its pretty important....if an arrow took 2 seconds to travel.....you have next to ZERO chance to flex anything...but MS or DF
re curves are the choice for interrupting.. then shortbows/flatty(w/ fwinds/rtw)
but ofc, pve(99% of the time)...no point bothering to interrupt..just kill it faster..and when you do need to interrupt...daze or mes interrupt+special effect is better..(4sec kd for example)

I use flatbows for barrage if myself or another player brings favorable wind.
